Celebrating 55 Years: The Journey of the World's First LEGOLAND Park

Fifty-five years ago today, the gates of the world's first LEGOLAND park swung open in Billund, Denmark. As LEGO toys grew in popularity and with the convenience of an airport nearby, the LEGO factory in Billund saw a surge in visitor numbers.

This sparked an idea in the mind of Godtfred Kirk Christiansen - to create a venue that would not only exhibit the LEGO brand but also display the myriad of entertaining creations possible with LEGO bricks, situated in proximity to the airport and LEGO factories.

This concept was the genesis of the very first LEGOLAND park, providing a model for subsequent parks globally.
