Snail Squad Arrives: LEGO® Ideas 40788 Friendly Snails Wiggles In As Next GWP

They’re here. And they’re slowly stealing hearts. The next LEGO® Gift With Purchase has been revealed, and it’s a charming little celebration of tiny creatures and cozy creativity. Meet 40788 Friendly Snails, a 264-piece GWP set that’s all kinds of leafy, swirly, and very, very mollusky. It’s built for fans. Literally.

Available from 1 July 2025, this LEGO Ideas creation will be yours when you spend €160 / $160 USD / $260 AUD / £145 GBP / 1,195 DKK / 1,845 SEK / 685 PLN / R$865 BRL on LEGO.com or in-store. Yes, that’s a bit of a tall threshold for two garden snails, but once you see the details, it kind of... makes sense? Maybe?

The set began as “The Autumn Snails” by fan builder Jagamax, who won 2024’s Build the Gift of Purchase Set of Your Dreams challenge. And for once, LEGO didn’t stray too far from the original pitch. You still get two beautifully printed shell-sporting snails nestled among plants, a toadstool, a log, and enough cozy fall vibes to last you until, well, autumn.

They’ve packed it all into a single sturdy base, which feels solid in hand and good on display. But if you’re more of a “snails on the run” kind of person (respect), both gastropods detach easily. Move them around. Make them race. Or just set one on your desk to silently judge your work pace.

According to fan designer @maximestrullu, the final product was designed by Mina Yoo, with graphic flair from Kjeld Walther Sørensen. That signature LEGO polish is all here, but without losing the warmth of the original idea. Which is something not every GWP manages to pull off.

It’s not flashy. There’s no IP. No lights or licensed minifigs. But 40788 Friendly Snails taps into a very niche but real kind of joy: slow, deliberate builds that feel a little personal. Like a pocket-sized garden that just happens to be made of bricks. It’s weirdly soothing.

So if you’re planning to grab something big in July—maybe those new summer wave LEGO City or LEGO Star Wars sets—this is a gentle little bonus. Just don’t forget: stock will be limited, and snails don’t restock quickly.

And yes, built for fans. Always.
