After the statement from the Merlin Entertainments corporation that it would be stretching its reach in Europe and would construct another LEGOLAND park in Belgium, there have been no new updates on the project since March 2021.
However, there have been developments on the projects as the group plans to begin work officially in 2023. The planned location for the new LEGOLAND project is the Gosselies site (previously used by the Caterpillar Corporation) in Belgium, a short distance from Charleroi.
The project will start with demolishing the existing structure on the site and will stretch until 2025. Following the demolition, the LEGOLAND park infrastructure construction will go on with a budget of 370 million Euros. Over 800 jobs are estimated to be created due to the project and about the same number of indirect jobs.
