You’ve waited years for it, and now it’s finally here: the LEGO® 76316 Fantastic Four vs. Galactus Construction Figure set. As a tie-in to The Fantastic Four: First Steps movie, this 427-piece set promises to bring Marvel’s first family into your LEGO® collection—but does it deliver?

First Impressions: The Minifigures Let Us Down
Let’s start with the stars of the show: the Fantastic Four minifigures. Reed Richards, Susan Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm (The Thing) are making their LEGO® debut, and while that’s a milestone worth celebrating, the execution leaves something to be desired.

The suits, inspired by the movie’s retro-minimalist aesthetic, miss key details. The absence of dual-molded legs means no boots, a glaring omission for fans who know how iconic those boots are. Johnny and Ben’s minifigures also lack arm printing and the white stripe down their sleeves, making them feel rushed. Reed’s torso is exclusive and accurate, but it’s not enough to salvage the overall disappointment.

I get it, LEGO® minifigures can’t always be perfect. But when you’re introducing characters as beloved as the Fantastic Four, you’d expect a little more effort. After all, this is a set built for fans, and fans notice the details.
Galactus Steals the Show
If there’s a saving grace, it’s the Galactus Construction Figure. Standing at 28cm (11 in.) tall, this towering figure is a fantastic use of the LEGO® Construction Figures format. The articulation is solid, and the scale is impressive, even if Galactus is technically a cosmic entity who could be any size he wants. For display or play, he’s a standout piece.

The Price Tag: A Hard Pill to Swallow
Here’s where things get tricky. At €59.99 (US$59.99 / £54.99 / AUD$92 / DKK 420 / SEK 630 / PLN 250 / R$300), this set is nearly double the price of other LEGO® Construction Figure sets. For that kind of money, you’d hope for minifigures that feel complete, not like they’re missing key elements.
Casual LEGO® Marvel fans might hesitate, and even die-hard collectors could find themselves waiting for a discount. A price closer to €40-45 would feel more reasonable, especially when the minifigures don’t quite hit the mark.
Final Thoughts: Worth It or Wait for a Sale?
If you’re a Fantastic Four fan, this set is a must-have, flaws and all. But if you’re on the fence, you might want to hold out for a sale. The Galactus figure is undeniably cool, but the minifigures don’t justify the premium price.
Then again, maybe LEGO® knows we’ll buy it anyway. After all, we’ve been waiting for these characters for years. Just don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Will you be adding this set to your collection, or is it a pass for you?
