The LEGO® Ideas project based on the hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother is racing toward 10,000 votes, and already hit the 6,000 votes!

Designed by H1GHDEF1N1T1ON, a 10K Club veteran known for previous LEGO® Ideas successes with Backstreet Boys and Perry the Platypus, this new submission shows that the builder knows exactly how to strike the right chord with fans.
For fans of sitcom-based LEGO® sets, this one fits perfectly on the shelf alongside with other TV shows like Friends (Central Perk and The Apartments), The Big Bang Theory, Seinfeld, The Office, and The Simpsons House. Television has clearly found a second home in LEGO® Ideas theme.
The Apartment Where Stories Began
At over 3,000 pieces, this fan-designed reimagines the New York apartment where Ted, Marshall, Lily, Robin, and Barney shared their stories, secrets, and sandwiches. The build includes five detailed minifigures, each with references that fans will instantly recognize, Barney’s iconic duck tie, Robin’s fierce hockey-ready glare, Lily’s “you’re dead to me”, and Ted’s ever-hopeful smile.

True to the show’s detail-driven humor, H1GHDEF1N1T1ON sprinkled dozens of hidden references from the series across the model. From the yellow umbrella and Robin Sparkles poster to the blue French horn and a mysterious pineapple, this apartment tells stories through bricks. (And yes, there’s even a cavity in the bathroom, perfect for storing extra pieces or, you know, pineapple-related mysteries.)

A Build Full of Heart (and Hilarity)
The designer shared that the process wasn’t all smooth sailing. “Whether it was making a room too small and starting over, or redoing misaligned prints, every mistake helped me make it better,” they explained.

It’s a labor of love that feels personal, because How I Met Your Mother itself was about the details. The storytelling. The callbacks. The quirks that made every episode unique. This LEGO® model captures that same energy: part nostalgia, part inside joke, all heart.
Could LEGO® Finally Say ‘Challenge Accepted’?
While fan enthusiasm is pushing the project closer to the 10K goal, this is not the first project for How I Met Your Mother but unfortunately was rejected in the review phase. If it reaches the magic number, it could officially head into LEGO® review, where the company decides which fan creations become real sets.

Given how well other TV-based sets have performed, the odds look good, but it’s up to the fans to make it happen. As Barney would say, “When I get sad, I stop being sad and vote instead. True story.”
Support the Build, Relive the Story
If this set earns LEGO® approval, fans will finally be able to sit their minifigures on that worn-out couch, toast to friendship with brick-built beer mugs, and ponder, yet again, where the pineapple came from.
