After a few years of sparse releases, LEGO finally shines the spotlight back on its DC theme, introducing the most expansive set of the year – the 76252 Batcave – Shadow Box. This latest 18+ addition to the LEGO DC universe is inspired by 1992’s Batman Returns, offering an impressive 3,981-piece build for £344.99 / $399.99 / €399.99 – $50 less than initially rumoured.
In a departure from previous models, the 76252 Batcave is a full-fledged, brick-built Batcave contained within a sleek black box. The shadow box design hides an array of exciting features and intricate details, revealed through a giant bat symbol on the front. This thrilling Batcave can be opened into two parts using hinge connections, offering an immersive play and display experience.
Once you delve inside, the Batcave reveals a plethora of areas and interactive elements. It boasts a dedicated space for storing different bat suits included in the set, alongside a prominently placed Batmobile. Additional features include movable furniture, changeable images on the big screen, a vault, and a door, with several light bricks contributing to the overall authenticity and value.
The fun extends to the set’s assortment of seven minifigures. Among them are the previously leaked 1992 versions of Batman and the Penguin, an additional Batman, Bruce Wayne, Catwoman, Alfred, and Max Shreck. All these elements make the 76252 Batcave – Shadow Box a fantastic addition to any LEGO DC collection, provided you enjoy building in black and very, very dark grey.
