Review: Arctic Explorer Snowmobile LEGO® City™ (60376)

Review: Arctic Explorer Snowmobile LEGO® City™ (60376)

LEGO has decided to bring back a sub-theme that many like within City sets, the Arctic.

Personally, what always attracted me to this theme were the various exclusive animals in these sets, however, as a rule, it was necessary to spend a lot of money on large sets, to achieve this.

But in this small and accessible set LEGO brings not just one, but two animals that are exclusive to this set for now, an adult seal and a baby seal. But there’s more to it than that on set, as we’ll talk about.

In this theme it is normal to find snowmobiles, and we can say that here we have “one more”, but in reality I think it is the most realistic snowmobile I have seen to date. Very well-built and with a usual color scheme in these sets that works very well. In addition to space for the minifigure to sit without any problem, including the backpack, it still has space to take the film camera, which is built using bricks in a way that is also quite realistic, taking into account the cameras used in the Arctic. Something I have to highlight, because for me, it is always pleasant, LEGO has chosen to print the symbol of the Arctic explorers directly on the piece and not use a sticker.

Now let’s talk about the best of this set. The animals.
We have a fish already known, in. But the highlight goes to the new seals, an adult and a baby (I think they are harp seals). The adult seal is light gray and has textured fins, and the baby seal is white. The details achieved on the muzzles are very well done.

The animals are displayed on a small block of ice, a simple construction, but sufficient for this type of sets.

Minifigures

Arctic explorers are nothing new, having changed little over the years, with predominantly blue and orange gear.

I liked the hairstyle chosen, which combines a hat with long hair, all in one piece. The head is double-sided, showing open eyes and some freckles on one side and a closed eye on the other side, for use with the supplied video camera. To complement the minifigure, we have a helmet to use on the snowmobile.

The backpack mold isn’t new, but it appears here in a new color combination that works really well with this minifigure and the environment.

Parts and Value

The 60376 Arctic Explorer Snowmobile set is an excellent set, priced at €9.99, £8.99 or $10.99, which is very fair as it is a well-made set with good details and even comes with two new animals.

In total we have 70 pieces, which may seem like a high price per piece, but we have to take into account that we have two animals, which makes the value very fair. Without a doubt, it’s a good thing LEGO has kept this set at this price point. It will undoubtedly be a sales success.
