Affiliate Disclosure

1. What Is an Affiliate Link?

An affiliate link is a specially tracked URL that tells a retailer or marketplace that a visitor arrived from brick.news. If you click such a link and go on to make a purchase, we may receive a small commission from the retailer. The price you pay is always the same — affiliate commissions are paid by the retailer, not added to your purchase.

This is a common and transparent way for independent publications to generate revenue that helps cover the costs of running the Platform, including hosting, editorial work, and tooling.

2. Where Affiliate Links May Appear

Affiliate links may appear in any section of brick.news, including but not limited to:

  • News articles covering new LEGO set announcements and availability
  • Set reviews and buying guides
  • Deals and price-tracking pages
  • Amazon.es and other retailer product links embedded in articles
  • Sidebar widgets or promotional banners

We do our best to label affiliate links clearly where layout permits. When in doubt, assume that any outbound link to a retailer or marketplace may be an affiliate link.

3. Our Affiliate Partnerships

brick.news currently participates in the following affiliate programmes, among others:

  • Amazon Associates (Amazon.es and other regional stores): As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases made through Amazon links on this site.
  • LEGO.com affiliate programme: Links to the official LEGO online store may be tracked affiliate links.
  • Other LEGO-specialist retailers: We may from time to time participate in programmes operated by other retailers who sell LEGO products.

This list may change over time. If you are unsure whether a particular link is affiliated, you are welcome to contact us at hello@brick.news.

4. Our Editorial Independence

Affiliate relationships have no influence on our editorial content. Specifically:

  • We do not give positive reviews in exchange for commissions or free products.
  • We do not inflate ratings or omit negative observations to protect a commercial relationship.
  • Decisions about which sets, products, or retailers to feature are made solely on editorial merit — news value, community interest, and quality.
  • If we receive a set as a review sample from LEGO or any other party, we will disclose this clearly within the relevant article.

Our commitment is to the AFOL community first. We believe that honest, unbiased content is the only sustainable basis for reader trust, and we take that responsibility seriously.

5. Legal Basis for This Disclosure

This disclosure is made in compliance with:

  • EU Directive 2005/29/EC on unfair commercial practices, as implemented in Portugal by Decreto-Lei n.º 57/2008, which requires that commercial communications be clearly identifiable as such.
  • Lei n.º 24/96 de 31 de julho (Lei de Defesa do Consumidor), which protects consumers from misleading commercial practices.
  • ANACOM and ERC guidelines on transparency in online commercial communications.
  • The affiliate programme terms of each programme we participate in, which independently require disclosure to end users.

6. Price Accuracy

Prices displayed on brick.news — including those shown on deals pages and in articles — are provided for informational purposes only. Prices on third-party retailers change frequently and we cannot guarantee that any price shown is current or accurate at the time you visit. Always verify the current price directly on the retailer's website before making a purchase decision.

7. No Additional Cost to You

Clicking an affiliate link and making a purchase does not cost you anything extra. Affiliate commissions are funded entirely by the retailer as part of their own marketing budget. You will never pay a higher price by clicking through from brick.news compared to visiting the retailer directly.

8. How We Use Affiliate Revenue

Any revenue generated through affiliate commissions is reinvested into brick.news to support:

  • Platform hosting and infrastructure costs
  • Editorial tools and software licences
  • Compensating contributing authors and editors
  • Acquiring review samples where we cannot obtain them directly from manufacturers

brick.news is an independent, community-driven publication. Affiliate revenue helps us remain free to access for all readers without charging subscription fees.
