Terms of Service

Welcome to brick.news (the "Platform"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the brick.news website, newsletter, browser extension and related services. By creating an account or otherwise using the Platform you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

1. Who we are

The Platform is operated by brick.news ("we", "us", "our"). You can contact us at any time at hello@brick.news.

2. Description of the Platform

brick.news is an independent editorial and community platform covering LEGO® and the wider brick building hobby. The Platform includes, among other features:

  • Editorial articles, reviews, news, guides and opinion pieces;
  • A member account system with bookmarks, likes, followed projects, saved events and personal collections;
  • A comments system and community discussion features;
  • A newsletter and optional push and email notifications;
  • A curated Brick Deals section listing promotions, price drops, and offers on LEGO® and compatible brick products from third party retailers;
  • A community events calendar aggregating brick related events across Europe;
  • Interactive tools including an Insiders Points Calculator, LEGO® Ideas Tracker, and Brand Set Database;
  • A browser extension that surfaces brick.news content and deals while you browse.

We may add, change or remove features at any time.

3. Your account

3.1 Registration

To access certain features you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information and to keep it up to date.

3.2 Account security

  • You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity on your account.
  • You agree to notify us immediately at hello@brick.news if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

3.3 Closure by you

You may delete your account at any time from your Account Settings. Please see our Privacy Policy for how we handle your data on deletion.

3.4 Account termination by us

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account at our sole discretion, at any time, with or without prior notice, and without being required to state a reason. Grounds may include, but are not limited to, violation of these Terms, conduct we determine to be harmful to the Platform, its users, or third parties, or operational decisions at our discretion. Where we are legally required to inform you of a termination, we will do so in accordance with applicable law. Termination does not affect any obligations or liabilities incurred prior to the date of termination.

4. Use of the Platform

4.1 Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By using the Platform you confirm that you meet this requirement.

4.2 Prohibited conduct

When using the Platform you agree not to:

  • Break any applicable law or regulation;
  • Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or infringes anyone else's rights;
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Platform, other users' accounts, or the underlying systems;
  • Scrape, crawl or bulk download content except as permitted by our robots.txt and applicable law;
  • Interfere with the normal operation of the Platform, including through spam, automated submissions, or denial of service activity;
  • Use the Platform to advertise or promote unrelated products or services without our written permission.

4.3 Enforcement

We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or terminate accounts that breach section 4.2, in line with section 3.4.

4.4 Member offers, deals, and promotions

brick.news may publish, aggregate, or highlight product offers, price drops, discount codes, and promotions in its Brick Deals section or within editorial content ("Deals Content").

You acknowledge and agree that:

  • Deals Content is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute a contractual offer by brick.news.
  • Prices, availability, and promotional terms are set exclusively by third party retailers and may change without notice. brick.news makes no guarantee as to the accuracy, currency, or completeness of any Deal listing.
  • Clicking through to a third party retailer to redeem an offer is governed solely by that retailer's terms and conditions. brick.news is not party to any transaction between you and a third party retailer.
  • Some Deals Content may be posted by community members or users. brick.news does not verify user submitted deals and accepts no liability for inaccurate or expired submissions.
  • Certain links in Deals Content may be affiliate links through which brick.news may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This is disclosed in our Affiliate Disclosure.
  • brick.news reserves the right to remove, edit, or decline any Deal listing at its sole discretion.

5. User content

5.1 Licence grant

Parts of the Platform let you submit content, for example, comments, event suggestions, idea submissions, collection entries, set reviews and user submitted deals ("User Content"). You remain the owner of your User Content. By submitting User Content, you grant brick.news a worldwide, non exclusive, royalty free, sublicensable licence to host, display, reproduce, adapt, translate and distribute it as part of the Platform, including in newsletters, social channels and promotional material about brick.news.

5.2 Your representations

You confirm that you have the right to grant the licence in section 5.1 and that your User Content does not infringe any third party rights or breach any law.

5.3 Moderation

We may moderate, edit, refuse, or remove User Content at our sole discretion, particularly where it breaches these Terms.

5.4 Comments and community contributions

Registered users may post comments on articles and other content on the Platform. By posting a comment, you agree that:

  • Your comment constitutes User Content subject to the licence granted in section 5.1.
  • You are solely responsible for the content of your comments. brick.news does not prescreen comments and is not liable for any content posted by users.
  • Comments must comply with section 4.2 (Prohibited conduct). We reserve the right to remove any comment, at any time and without notice, that we determine, at our sole discretion, to be in violation of these Terms, offensive, spam, legally problematic, or otherwise undesirable.
  • We have no obligation to retain, archive, or restore any deleted comment.
  • Repeated posting of rule violating comments may result in suspension of your commenting privileges or termination of your account under section 3.4.
  • We do not endorse any opinion expressed in user comments. Comments represent the views of their authors only.

6. Followed projects, bookmarks and personal lists

Features such as bookmarks, likes, followed projects, saved events, deal watchlists and personal collections are provided for your convenience. We do not guarantee their uninterrupted availability and may change or remove features over time. Where reasonable, we will give you notice of significant changes.

7. Affiliate disclosure

brick.news participates in affiliate programmes, including the Amazon Associates Programme and similar schemes in other marketplaces. We may earn a commission when you buy a product through a link on the Platform, at no extra cost to you. Any purchase you make from a third party retailer is subject to that retailer's own terms, pricing and policies. We are not a party to that transaction.

8. Our content and intellectual property

  • All editorial content, images, design, logos, code and databases on the Platform, other than User Content and third party materials, are owned by brick.news or licensed to us, and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
  • You may view, share and link to our articles for personal, non commercial use. Any other use, including republishing or using our content to train machine learning models, requires our prior written permission.
  • If you believe content on the Platform infringes your copyright, please contact us at hello@brick.news with enough detail for us to identify the work and the alleged infringement.

9. Contributor roles

If you have been granted an author, editor, moderator or administrator role, you agree to:

  • Use your role only for the purposes it was granted;
  • Follow any editorial guidelines we provide;
  • Respect the privacy of other users whose data you may have access to;
  • Not disclose internal information, drafts or moderation decisions without permission.

We may revoke contributor privileges at any time.

10. Third party services and links

The Platform includes links to third party sites (such as retailer pages, Rebrickable projects and social networks) and integrates with third party providers (such as Google and Facebook sign in, email delivery and push notifications). We are not responsible for the content, policies or practices of those third parties. Your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their own terms.

11. LEGO® trademark notice

LEGO®, the LEGO logo, the brick and knob configurations, and the minifigure are trademarks of the LEGO Group of companies, which does not sponsor, authorise or endorse this Platform. We use these terms only to identify and discuss the products they refer to.

12. Platform availability

We aim to keep the Platform available at all times but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. The Platform may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or events outside our control.

13. Disclaimers

The Platform and its content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not warrant that:

  • The Platform will be uninterrupted, secure or error free;
  • The information on the Platform, including prices, release dates, stock levels and event details, will be accurate or complete;
  • Any defects will be corrected.

brick.news is an independent platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or supported in any way by the LEGO Group. Any opinions, reviews, or editorial content published on the Platform are solely those of brick.news and its contributors.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, brick.news, its owners, employees and contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Platform. Our total liability to you for any claim related to the Platform is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) EUR 50.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless brick.news and its contributors from any claim, demand, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Platform, or your infringement of any third party right.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where the changes are material, notify you by email or through a notice on the Platform. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

17. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Portugal, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer rights you may have in your country of residence.
