"There's no such thing as a Gruffalo..." Except now there might be, in brick form. Builder dcsbricksnbits has brought Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler's beloved monster to LEGO® life with The Gruffalo & the Mouse, a display model that packs storybook charm into around 2,100 pieces.

Every terrible tusk and terrible tooth made the cut. The design nails the character's most famous features, from the poisonous wart on the end of his nose to those glowing orange eyes and the purple prickles running down his back. The clever bit? The Gruffalo's head rotates and the plucky Mouse is repositionable, so you can pose the whole scene from any angle you like. Ever tried building fur and prickles out of plastic bricks? This model pulls it off with real personality.

Here is where the build gets genuinely handy. Measuring 27 cm wide, 27 cm deep, and 28 cm tall, and weighing in around 1,800 grams, it sits happily on a shelf as a working bookend, holding up a medium stack of books right next to the very stories that inspired it. The story's famous refrain is printed on the base too, a lovely nod to bedtimes past. Where would you park yours, a reading corner or a desk?

What makes this pitch stand out is the honesty of the presentation. dcsbricksnbits chose real-world photography over digital renders, showing that every element comes from currently available LEGO® parts. No wishlist pieces, no smoke and mirrors, just an awesome physical model you could recreate today.

With The Gruffalo celebrating more than 25 years of bedtime magic, this project has gathered 1,359 supporters and 192 comments on its way toward the 10,000 goal. Fancy helping a deep-dark-wood legend reach official set status? Give The Gruffalo & the Mouse your vote, because there is definitely such a thing as a great LEGO® build.
