Ring your bell and grab your golden ticket, because The Polar Express has pulled into the LEGO® Ideas station with a full head of steam. Designer Olivier312 has hit the full 10,000 supporters, sending this 4,930-piece tribute to the beloved 2004 The Polar Express film straight into official LEGO® review. The build recreates the steam locomotive plus three cars: the abandoned toy car, the passenger car, and the observation car where the aurora borealis glows.

Let's talk about that length. The locomotive and its three cars stretch a whopping 234.4 studs, which works out to roughly 187 cm (that's 73.83 inches, or about the height of a very tall person lying down). It rolls on regular LEGO® train track and even handles curves, though at 3,362 grams it stays off the motorized rails (some trains are simply built to be admired). Have you ever seen a brick-built train this long take a corner?
The playability is where Olivier312 really shows off. Every car opens up so you can reach the interior, and clever swappable roof sections let you rebuild key movie moments, including the spine-tingling "YOU'RE A DOUBTER!" scene with the hobo and his Ebenezer Scrooge puppet. There's a trapdoor on the locomotive that opens so the conductor can guide Smokey and Steamer across the frozen lake, plus turning brake wheels on every car connected with Technic pins.

The 12 minifigures come loaded with story props: the bell for the hero boy, the ticket for the hero girl, a Christmas present for Billy, a lantern for the conductor, and a shovel for Smokey. There's even a large Polar Express ticket tile, a nod to the 8x16 ticket from the Hogwarts Express Collectors' Edition set. Eagle-eyed builders will spot a hidden flux capacitor tucked in the cabin, a wink to director Robert Zemeckis's other famous ride.

Now that The Polar Express has reached its 10,000-supporter finish line, it heads off to the LEGO® review board for a decision. Will this holiday express get the green light to leave the station for real? Keep believing, master builders, the magic never fades for those who do.
