Deep in the Louisiana swamp, where Spanish moss hangs like ghostly curtains and bullfrogs sing to the moon, a mystic named Ezra Darkwood keeps a weathered hut. That is the setting for Bayou Magic, a wonderfully atmospheric LEGO® Ideas project from builder _MrB_ that has now reached the full 10,000 supporters and moved into LEGO® review.

The build packs 2,169 pieces into a crooked swamp shack surrounded by a riot of plant life and wildlife. What makes it sing is the sheer density of detail. The designer tucked in dozens of species from the real bayou, and half the fun is spotting them all (can you find the great blue heron before the alligator finds you?).

Fourteen types of flora hide in the greenery, from bald cypress trees to Louisiana irises to a sneaky oyster mushroom. Hunt the mossy corners and you will find fourteen creatures too, including a bullfrog, a cottonmouth, a bald eagle, and a crawfish. That is a lot of biodiversity for one hut, and building each tiny critter from bricks shows off some seriously clever parts-usage.

The story behind the scene is pure swamp folklore. Ezra tries to turn a bumbling goofball named Bubba into a voodoo-doll puppet, only for Bubba to trip his way to freedom with one epic faceplant. Beyond the mischief, _MrB_ wants the set to celebrate the bayou's ecology and its place in Cajun and Creole culture, a corner of the world LEGO® fans rarely get to build.

With Bayou Magic now in the hands of the review team, all that is left is to imagine the mystical accessories and swamp-dwelling minifigures a final set might include. Who knew the most magical thing in the swamp would be a pile of plastic studs?
