Fire up your memory banks, because Bionicle is officially old enough to rent a car. To mark 25 years of the beloved buildable heroes, a builder named Mixuchu has crafted a loving tribute to the very first Toa on LEGO® Ideas: Bionicle 25th Anniversary - Mata Serie: Toa Tahu. Fun twist? The creator was born two years after the line launched in 2001 and only discovered it in 2010, yet fell hard for it. Proof that a great toy has no expiry date.

The build recreates Tahu, the fiery Toa of Fire, using 261 pieces and only official LEGO® parts (no third-party trickery here). What makes it sing is the balance of old and new. It captures the classic Mata-era shaping and simple color scheme while sneaking in extra articulation for poseability, so you can strike the same heroic stance as the original promotional artwork. That is a genuinely clever bit of engineering, and it is the kind of thing that made Bionicle fans fall in love in the first place.

There are two neat touches worth celebrating. First, Mixuchu swapped Tahu's usual red eyes for yellow ones, a friendly nod to G2 and Stars Tahu (and a lovely bit of contrast). Second, the design includes a brick-built canister with an alternate build, so you can display it or use it as a story prop, just like the canisters the Toa Mata shipped in back in the day.

The project sits at 1,498 supporters and is still gathering steam toward the 10,000 needed to reach the LEGO® review stage. If a buildable Toa of Fire sounds like your kind of adventure, hop over to Bionicle 25th Anniversary - Mata Serie: Toa Tahu and lend your support. Ready to help Tahu claim the win once more?
