Ready to cancel the apocalypse in plastic form? A 3,334-piece brick-built Jaeger has stomped onto LEGO® Ideas, and it stands a towering 49cm tall. Designer Cosmic.Nomad built Pacific Rim: Gipsy Danger, a restored Mark 3 mech from the world of giant robots punching giant sea monsters. The project has already gathered 9,520 supporters, inching ever closer to the 10,000 finish line.

Here is where the building gets genuinely clever. Cosmic.Nomad packed the model with articulation, using ratcheted joints so Gipsy Danger holds a pose instead of flopping over (any builder who has fought a floppy-armed figure knows that struggle). The forearms split apart to reveal mechanical detail, and with a swappable hand they transform into the plasma caster. Elbow rockets let you stage a propelled punch, and the chain sword clips right onto the forearm.

The chest opens too. Since the head had no room for pilots (a real design puzzle worth appreciating), the whole torso hinges open to reveal a detailed Conn-Pod interior built to house two minifigures. That is a smart solution to a genuinely tricky scaling problem.

The minifigure line-up is stacked. You get Raleigh Becket in two versions, Mako Mori, Stacker Pentecost, Newton Geiszler, Hermann Gottlieb, Hannibal Chau, and Yancy Becket. The pilots wear their drivesuits with holographic control accessories, and the scientists come with alternate faces sporting Kaiju drift gear. Fancy swapping your pilot team? The extra figures let you decide who climbs into the cockpit.

With a Pacific Rim prequel series on the horizon, Cosmic.Nomad reckons the timing is right to bring this Jaeger into official brick form.
