Builder TangTaizong does, and their Honey, I Shrunk the Kids project just reached the full 10,000 supporters on LEGO® Ideas. The build freezes one of the most nerve-jangling scenes from the 1989 film, when four tiny kids sprint across a suddenly enormous backyard.
The set stars all four shrunken heroes: Amy, Nick, Little Russ, and Ronald. They pick their way through a lawn that towers over them, right up to the moment Nick's friend Tom fires up the lawnmower and turns a peaceful afternoon into a race for survival. (Nothing says childhood terror quite like grass blades the size of skyscrapers, does it?)
The clever part is how the build shows the lawn in two states at once. One section stands tall and untouched while another gets chewed down by the advancing mower, so you can see the danger rolling toward the kids in real time. Look closer and you'll spot the blue LEGO® brick where the kids sheltered overnight, a lovely nod to fans who know the film by heart. Fancy building a hideout inside a brick using bricks? TangTaizong pitched it simply: it is a wildly fun movie, the action-packed landscape begs to be played with, and fans of every age would love to snap it together. The project drew 420 comments on its way to the finish line, and now it sits with the LEGO® Ideas review team, where the official jury decides which projects graduate into real boxed sets.
