Remember feeding coins into an arcade cabinet to guide a tiny tank through a swampy jungle? A builder called MagicBrick does, and he has turned that memory into a 2,701-piece scene on LEGO® Ideas. Metal Slug recreates the original 1996 arcade release and its famous jungle mission, freezing one frantic moment of run-and-gun action in plastic. Right now it sits at 783 supporters.

The star of the show is the Super Vehicle-001, better known to players as the Metal Slug tank itself. Despite its compact size it packs a lot of play value, with adjustable rear cannons, functional tracks, and little antennas poking up top. Around the tank, the swampy base uses tiles in different shades to sell the marshy ground, while brick-built trees and palms fill out the dense vegetation. The brick-built background even mimics the arcade colours of the original game, right down to the red-to-orange Metal Slug logo gradient perched at the top. You will spot the details that make longtime players grin: ammo crates, yellow barrels, a hanging fish skeleton, a parachute, and the classic H and R power-ups.

Six minifigures bring the firefight to life. Marco Rossi shows off his red jacket while mid-jump with a heavy machine gun, Tarma Roving sports his yellow jacket with a pistol and knife, and three Rebel Army soldiers stand ready in green helmets. There is even the bearded prisoner in shorts who hands you goodies after a rescue (and yes, a cartoon-style grenade explosion made the cut too).
