The fastest ship in the Solar System has touched down on LEGO® Ideas. Builder brxstr has recreated the sleek red-and-white racer from The Expanse, and the result is a 2,347-piece display model that captures every angular curve of one of sci-fi's most recognisable spacecraft. Have you ever tried building a hexagon out of rectangular bricks? That challenge sits at the very heart of this design.

The The Expanse Razorback stretches 20 inches long and stands 10.5 inches tall on its display stand, and the engineering underneath is genuinely inventive. brxstr started with a black hexagonal 6x6 plate as the skeleton, then wrapped it in wedge plates and slopes all pitched to matching angles. Ball-and-socket joints hidden inside the red upper structure hold the whole thing together, while the ship's legs use clips, bar holders and minifigure guns disguised as mechanical hoses. That is a wonderful example of parts used in ways the designers at Billund never imagined.

The engine may be the showstopper. To get that round, domed, hollow look with a central blast cone, brxstr circled dozens of hinge plates at a precise 20-degree angle around a small bar-frame round plate. The interior cone hides a prominent 'X' framed in black tiles, angled to fight against the sloping sides. Lift the removable roof panel and you find a fully detailed cockpit with two rotating ring seats, transparent display screens and decorative piping.

Two minifigures ride along, Alex Kamal and Bobbie Draper, built from Dune Ornithopter figures with a custom head and hair for Bobbie. The build has gathered 1,633 supporters so far on its climb toward the 10,000 needed to reach the review stage.
