An electric hot hatch has cruised into the LEGO® Ideas review stage, and it looks fantastic. The Renault 5 Turbo 3E by builder Devon-Bricks reached the full 10,000 supporters, and now it waits to see whether LEGO® will turn this brick-built pocket rocket into an official set. Revealed at the 2022 Paris Motor Show, the real Renault wraps retro-futuristic looks around an all-electric heart, and this model captures every curve.

Let's talk scale, because it is a big one. Devon-Bricks built the Renault 5 Turbo 3E to roughly 1:12, which means plenty of room for the chunky wheel arches and that bold early-eighties rally livery. To nail the proportions, the builder hand-drew front, rear, and side profiles, backed them with card, and held them up against the growing model over and over (a proper old-school engineering trick, and a genuinely clever one). Have you ever checked your own MOC against a paper blueprint? It works.

The custom stickers deserve a round of applause too. Devon-Bricks drew each one by hand in AutoCAD, then printed them onto adhesive sheet, giving the Renault its authentic racing graphics. The whole build took around three months, squeezed in around family and other hobbies, with endless little tweaks along the way. Every time it looked finished, another detail begged for attention, and that patience shows in the finished shape.

Here is the lovely part. Devon-Bricks grew up a petrolhead in the eighties and nineties, dreaming of the original Renault 5 Turbo they never got to own. Getting back into LEGO® in their forties, nearly forty years after those first classic Technic sets, meant finally building that dream car in bricks. Every image on the project page is a real photo of the actual model, fingerprints, dust, and all, which somehow makes it feel even more real.

The Renault 5 Turbo 3E has cleared the 10,000 mark and now sits in the hands of the LEGO® review team. Will this electric hot hatch snap its way onto shelves? Keep your studs crossed and your batteries charged.
