Ever wanted to smash a building the size of your coffee table? Meet IT'S WRECKING TIME! Wreck-It-Ralph & Vanellope Von Schweetz, a new LEGO® Ideas project from builder Packatrix. It pairs a hulking, brick-built Wreck-It Ralph with his glitchy pint-sized sidekick Vanellope Von Schweetz, and it currently sits at 2,977 supporters.
The whole thing weighs in at 2,338 pieces, and the inspiration is delightfully nerdy. Packatrix fell hard for The Mighty Bowser and wanted to build another big character at that same commanding scale. Wreck-It Ralph, Disney's love letter to old-school video games, turned out to be the ideal candidate. Ralph is essentially the film's Donkey Kong-style bruiser, so scaling him up feels right at home.
The clever bits are everywhere. Ralph's checked flannel shirt comes together through careful colour placement across his refined torso (getting a plaid pattern to read in bricks is no small feat!). The builder tucked joints wherever Ralph's bulk allowed, so you can nudge him into a few poses. Vanellope proved trickier at this scale, so her big cartoon eyes use printed or sticker elements after several brick-built experiments did not quite land.
What about her famous kart? Packatrix did build one, but it kept nudging the model past the parts limit, so it sat out for now. Maybe the designers at The LEGO® Group could work their magic on it if Ralph and Vanellope reach the full 10,000 supporters. Fingers crossed.
If you grew up feeding quarters to arcade cabinets, this one hits a sweet nostalgic note. Head to the IT'S WRECKING TIME! Wreck-It-Ralph & Vanellope Von Schweetz page and add your vote. Ready to help Ralph wreck his way to review?
