LEGO® Baseball comes to the plate with Dodgers Batting Helmet Build

October baseball hits differently when it’s made of LEGO®. Fan designer Larry_land1 found himself swept up in postseason fever and decided to channel that energy into something physical: a Dodgers MLB Batting Helmet made entirely of bricks. With just over 150 votes so far, it’s a small but growing fan rally that could swing for the fences and reach 10,000 votes on LEGO® Ideas.

This build captures that perfect intersection of LEGO® and fandom where childhood blocks meet America’s pastime. And it doesn’t just sit there, it tells a story spanning 140 years of baseball and a franchise that helped shape the sport.

Engineering the Curve

The build itself is as much about patience and passion. Larry_land1 began with the helmet’s brim, noticing how a Technic mudguard resembled the front curve of a real batting helmet. From there, a frame took shape, structurally sound yet hollow inside, just like the real thing.

To achieve the helmet’s signature curve, he fused System and Technic elements, using clever studs-not-on-top techniques to sculpt its smooth, rounded silhouette. The brick-built LA logo pops against the Dodger blue finish, while the angled ear flap adds just the right dose of realism. It’s both an engineering feat and an homage.

More Than a Display

There’s a cheeky synergy here: both MLB helmets and LEGO® bricks are made from ABS plastic. Coincidence? Probably not. The helmet works as a sleek display piece, though younger fans might dream of wearing it, responsibly, of course.

Beyond fandom, the project taps into baseball’s global rise. The 2023 World Baseball Classic shattered viewership records across the U.S., Japan, and Latin America, with another showdown set for 2026. A LEGO® tribute to the sport feels timely, connecting stadiums to shelves worldwide.

Building the Future of Sports in LEGO®

This Dodgers helmet isn’t the first time LEGO® has flirted with sports. Remember the LEGO® NBA sets (2003)? The LEGO® Ideas Table Football (21337)? Or the recent Adidas or Nike brand partnership. The Dodgers helmet joins that lineage, merging cultural nostalgia with sculptural precision.
