There’s something special about walking into LEGO® House and discovering a set you can’t find anywhere else. This year, the exclusive LEGO Fabuland® Tribute (40506) does more than just sit on the shelf—it brings back the whimsy, the characters, and the storytelling that made Fabuland a legend.
From March 1, 2025, fans can get their hands on this limited-edition set, designed by LEGO House Master Builder Stuart Harris and Senior Designer Markus Rollbühler, with a little help from the LEGO Idea House historians. It’s not just a build; it’s a celebration of the first LEGO® theme that dared to combine bricks with rich, imaginative stories.

Why Fabuland Still Matters
Kathrine Kirk Muff, CEO of LEGO House, puts it simply: “Every year, the exclusive set is a highlight, but this one hits differently. Fabuland was my childhood, and seeing Edvard Elephant, Karlo Crow, Line Lamb, and Kalle Crocodile reimagined for today? Pure nostalgia.”
Fabuland launched in 1979 and ran for a decade, introducing a world where every set came with a story. The instructions weren’t just steps—they were comics, showing characters building, playing, and having fun. It was the first time LEGO® invited kids to build their own narratives, a tradition that lives on in themes like NINJAGO® and Friends.
Stuart Harris, who led the redesign, shares, “Fabuland was ahead of its time. It didn’t just inspire building; it inspired worlds. Recreating these characters and their stories for a new generation has been an honor.”
What’s Inside the Tribute Set?

The LEGO Fabuland® Tribute (40506) includes 1,026 pieces and four iconic characters, each with their own building instructions and backstory. The set even revives the original illustrated guides, this time drawn by Associate Master Builder Didac Perez.
- Edvard Elephant (or Fanfan, Ollie, or Eduardo, depending on where you grew up)
- Karlo Crow
- Line Lamb
- Kalle Crocodile
Each character gets a separate booklet, so you can build them one by one—alone or with friends.
A Piece of LEGO® History

Fabuland wasn’t just a theme; it was a cultural moment. With 99 sets released between 1979 and 1989, it was the first to expand into books, TV shows, and merchandise. The mayor? Lionel Lion. The star? Edward Elephant, thanks to the 1987 animated series.
This tribute set is the sixth in LEGO House’s Special Edition line, following fan favorites like The Wooden Duck and A Minifigure Tribute. And just like those, it’s only available at LEGO House in Billund.

Why You’ll Want This Set
If you grew up with Fabuland, this is your chance to relive the magic. If you didn’t, it’s your opportunity to see where LEGO® storytelling began. Either way, it’s built for fans—those who remember, and those who are about to discover why Fabuland was so fabulous.
Mark your calendars: March 1, 2025. And if you can’t make it to Billund? Well, that’s what road trips are for.
