Aarhus Takes Center Stage in LEGOLAND®’s Miniland: A Brick-Built Love Letter to Denmark’s Second City

When LEGOLAND® Billund opens its gates for the 2025 season, guests will find something new in Miniland: Aarhus, Denmark’s second-largest city, recreated in LEGO® bricks. And it’s not just any model, it’s a masterpiece.

Seven Iconic Buildings, 2.5 Million Bricks

The new Aarhus area in Miniland covers 310 square meters and features seven of the city’s most recognizable landmarks, all built at a 1:20 scale. “I’ve sneaked a peek at some of the buildings, and honestly? Wow,” says Michael Ottesen, Director of LEGOLAND Billund. “The level of detail, the scale, the craftsmanship—it’s breathtaking.”

What You’ll See

  • Aarhus City Hall – Towering at five meters from base to spire.
  • Aarhus Cathedral – A Gothic marvel in brick form.
  • ARoS Aarhus Art Museum – Complete with Olafur Eliasson’s rainbow panorama, designed so it looks like visitors are walking inside the artwork.
  • Aarhus Central Station – A hub of activity, just like the real thing.
  • Isbjerg (The Iceberg) – Stretching 4.5 meters in length, capturing the modern architectural wave.
  • Åboulevarden – The pulsing heart of Aarhus, with tiny LEGO® figures going about their day.
  • Salling Rooftop – A shopping icon, recreated with its unique, complex design.

From Real Life to LEGO® Life

This wasn’t just a build-it-and-forget-it project. The LEGOLAND® team spent 18 months planning, designing, and constructing the area. They visited Aarhus multiple times, snapping close-up photos of every detail, from the brickwork on the cathedral to the curves of Salling Rooftop.

“It was important to choose buildings that represent both the historic and modern soul of Aarhus,” explains Ottesen. “And, of course, ones that would look stunning in LEGO®.”

Why This Matters

This isn’t just another Miniland addition. It’s a celebration of Aarhus, its history, culture, and energy, all captured in LEGO® bricks. Whether you’re admiring the rainbow atop ARoS or spotting the tiny details along Åboulevarden, this is Miniland at its finest.

So when April 5, 2025, rolls around, make a beeline for Miniland. Aarhus is waiting.
