Meet Cook Kirby, an 853-piece tribute to gaming's most lovable pink puffball, now cooking up support on LEGO® Ideas. Designer CorporalGrandMosquito102 gave the classic Kirby a chef's hat, a mischievous grin, and a whole lot of heart. The best part? It started as a love letter. His girlfriend reminded him of Kirby (and loves food more than anything), so a cooking version felt like the only sensible option.
The real triumph here is the roundness. Anyone who has tried to build a sphere from rectangular bricks knows how tricky it is to make a shape this smooth, and CorporalGrandMosquito102 nailed it. The proportions and that instantly recognizable face land right on target. Ever wondered how you make plastic steam look like it is actually rising? He used flexible bar pieces to fake the wafting heat, a small touch that steals the show.
That chef's hat deserves its own round of applause, too. Kirby famously has no limbs to speak of, yet the builder wanted the little guy to strike a pose, so the hands and feet move for playful display options. Want him waving? Ready to cook? You decide. There is no single right way to pose a pink chef, and that freedom is exactly what makes this build such a joy to imagine on a shelf.
What makes Cook Kirby special is the story baked into it. Gaming nostalgia, a love of food, and a personal gift idea all folded into one build. CorporalGrandMosquito102 dreams of one day handing this to his girlfriend, and honestly, who could resist a LEGO® Kirby wearing a chef's hat?
The project has gathered 1,342 supporters so far on its climb toward the 10,000 goal, and it deserves a few thousand more. Fellow Kirby fans, this one is cooking with gas. Head to LEGO® Ideas and add your vote. Will you help this pink chef inhale his way to a full set?
