Swing your arms, climb the trees, and try not to get tagged! The virtual reality smash hit lands in brick form thanks to Gorilla Tag Forest!, a LEGO® project from builder DogsRSpice. It recreates the game’s beloved forest map, the very spot where millions of players run, jump, and make new friends. Now you can build that whole world on your tabletop.
So where did Gorilla Tag come from? Studio Another Axiom, which began as a solo project by Kerestell “Lemming” Smith, launched the game in early access in February 2021. The hook is its locomotion: no buttons, no sticks, no teleporting, just your own arms swinging, pushing, and climbing you through the trees like a legless gorilla. That arm-powered movement turned it into one of the most popular games in all of VR, with more than 12 million players chasing each other across forests, caves, and clouds. The forest is where it all started, which makes it the perfect map to capture in studs.
The centrepiece is a giant hollow stump that houses the in-game computer and a cosmetic box for swapping out your gear. Stand at the Mirror to try on new looks (a clever little nod that any Gorilla Tag fan will spot instantly). Step outside the stump and the forest opens up around you, with trees, a cosy gazebo, a campfire, and even a slide.
What makes this build sing is how faithfully it captures the geometry of a place players know by heart. Translating a 3D playground into studs and bricks takes serious spatial thinking, and the layout invites you to plan your own swinging routes through the canopy. Want to add a few more climbing branches? Go for it. There is no single right way to build a forest, so let your imagination set the rules.
Watch out for the Lava Monkeys, though! In the game’s Infection mode, one tagged player turns into a lava monke and hunts everyone else down, so these pesky taggers are ready to catch you off guard as you set the scene. Recreating a fast-paced game in a still display is a fun design puzzle, and DogsRSpice nails the energy of the chase.
With Gorilla Tag sitting among the top VR games and over 1,200 comments buzzing on the project page, the appeal is obvious.
