Animal Crossing fans finally have big news again. Nintendo has confirmed that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will receive a major version update on January 15, 2026. This update arrives together with a new Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of the game that brings expanded multiplayer, sharper visuals and Joy Con 2 mouse support. Players on the original Switch will not miss out. They also get the enormous Version 3.0 content drop.

Version 3.0 adds a full set of LEGO themed furniture and clothing that can be purchased in Nook’s shop. The reveal trailer shows a colourful range of brick based objects that look right at home in Animal Crossing’s cheerful aesthetic.

Players can decorate their homes with a LEGO fireplace, a brick built workbench, a tiny arcade machine and even floral pieces inspired by LEGO Botanicals. A micro scaled plum blossom appears as one of the standout items. Nintendo did not hold back on the bright colours, bold wallpapers or the building inspired forms. Everything pops in true Animal Crossing fashion.

The trailer shows several sample rooms that demonstrate how deep this collaboration goes. There is classic Nintendo hardware for retro fans, Zelda and Splatoon items for gamers and now LEGO decor for builders. Each category slots neatly into the game’s playful style. The update offers plenty of creative freedom for players who enjoy mixing themes inside their island homes.

Some fans may have hoped to see real life LEGO Animal Crossing sets represented directly in game. Minifigure styled villagers could have been a fun addition. Even so, the concept of fully brick built furniture and clothing fits the game’s tone perfectly. It adds a new layer of creativity that blends digital and physical building culture.
