Books need a place to lean, so why not lean them against a glowing miniature metropolis? That is exactly what Farmfarm asked with the City Skyline Bookends, a pair of brick-built cityscapes complete with a bridge, a waterfront, and tiny cars whose headlights and brake lights glow at night. The project has already reached the full 10,000 supporters and now sits in the LEGO® Ideas review stage.

The city here is entirely imaginary, borrowing from no real skyline or bridge, which frees your imagination to fill in the story. A row of buildings rises behind the water while a suspension bridge stretches across the gap, its main cable formed from a length of rigid hose held under just the right tension. Look closely and you will spot micro-scale cars streaming onto and off the bridge via little interchanges, a loop of nighttime traffic that Farmfarm even captured as a glowing gif.

Here is where builders will really lean in. The whole thing runs on SNOT (studs not on top) technique, with plates facing outward and a solid interior locked together by Technic axles. Those axles pass through 1x1 Technic bricks and pin-hole plates, while industrial-looking support girders line the inner wall to keep everything on theme. The clever bit? Every 90 degree corner meets in a satisfying tile-to-tile junction, with no half-plate gaps anywhere on the model.

Then there are the boats. Farmfarm floated a few serene little vessels down the river, and each hull is a Minifigure armor shoulder pad turned to a new purpose. Have you ever looked at a shoulder pad and seen a rowboat? That is the kind of lateral thinking that makes a great build, and it is the sort of creative reuse every master builder loves to spot.
