A brick-built bear in a blue coat and red hat just reached the finish line. Paddington Bear, designed by Bricked1980, has gathered the full 10,000 supporters on LEGO® Ideas and now sits in the review stage, waiting to hear whether the beloved character from darkest Peru will become a real set. The model shows Paddington perched on a bench, mid-marmalade-sandwich, exactly as any fan would want to picture him.

The build packs 1,150 pieces into a display that stands around 27cm tall, and the clever hidden touches are where the charm really shines. Lift off Paddington's hat and you find a marmalade sandwich tucked underneath (kept there for emergencies, naturally). Pop open his suitcase and you discover jars of marmalade, more sandwiches, and a tiny picture of his beloved Aunt Lucy. Can you spot her when you build it?

Beside Paddington on the bench sits one of his famous handwritten letters, ready to post to Aunt Lucy. The whole design uses smart part choices to sculpt that soft, rounded bear shape from hard bricks, and the figure lifts cleanly off the bench so you can display him solo or with the full scene. That kind of flexible design gives you room to show off your own style.

This is a second run for Bricked1980. An earlier Paddington project also reached 10,000 supporters but did not pass review. Encouraged by the LEGO® Ideas community, the designer went back to the drawing board and returned with this new and improved version, calling on three generations of family fandom for inspiration.

Michael Bond first introduced Paddington in the 1958 book A Bear Called Paddington, and the character has stayed a firm favourite through films and a West End musical. Now the polite little bear waits on the LEGO® review team. "Please look after this bear," indeed. Fingers crossed his ticket to your shelf gets stamped.
