Remember blowing on discs and waiting for that magic startup chime? A new LEGO® Ideas project brings the whole feeling back in brick form. PlayStation 1, built by designer Ahynar4_s, recreates Sony's era-defining grey console entirely out of LEGO® pieces, and it has just hit the full 10,000 supporters. Review time has arrived.

The model recreates a classic PlayStation 1 at scale, right down to the wired controller that so many of us clutched for hours on end. Here comes the part that makes builders grin: the top lid actually opens, mimicking the original disc-loading mechanism. (Yes, you can lift it and pretend to swap in a copy of your favourite game.) It is a genuinely satisfying bit of building, the kind that reminds you what LEGO® bricks can do when someone studies the real thing carefully.

Authentic touches sell the whole thing. The buttons carry stickers for that hit of realism, the classic PlayStation logos are all present, and the controller cable bends flexibly so it drapes just like the real cord did across your living room floor. At more than 700 pieces, this one aims for a relaxing build and a proud shelf display rather than a marathon assembly session.

Behind the project is Ahynar4_s, who describes the PS1 as a generational icon and the first console many of us ever owned. That nostalgia clearly landed, because the project gathered its 10,000 supporters and picked up 324 comments along the way. The designer, who notes they speak Spanish, signed off with a lovely bit of encouragement: always do what you love, and follow your dreams. Now the wait begins to see whether LEGO® gives this retro tribute a green light. Which classic console would you build next, and would you press start on this one?
