Ever wanted to explore the alien oceans of Planet 4546B without holding your breath? Builder TheForge has answered that question with Subnautica: The First Dive, a roughly 1,800-piece diorama that brings the survival game's stunning flora and fauna to life in plastic. The Subnautica video game is a fan favorite, and this display captures exactly why: the creatures and plants of that world are unlike anything else.

The model stands 38.5 cm tall (that's 15.2 inches for you imperial builders), measures 37.5 cm wide, and reaches 20.4 cm deep. Into that space, TheForge packed five different fish species and a small forest of alien plant life, all arranged with enough breathing room to avoid that cramped, everything-at-once look. And yes, the iconic Peeper made the cut, because what would Subnautica be without that big-eyed little swimmer?

Here is where the building really shines. Rather than shrink everything down to minifigure scale (which would have made those bizarre creatures nearly impossible to recreate), the designer built up at a larger scale. That choice let each fish and each plant show off its true shape. Hunting for the perfect piece to nail a creature's silhouette is one of the great joys of building, and you can feel that effort in every fin and frond here.

The diver and the fish are the designer's own favorite parts, and it shows. Recreating Subnautica's wildlife faithfully takes real experimentation, and the payoff is a display that reads instantly as the game you know. With Subnautica 2 on the horizon, the timing could hardly be better for LEGO® builders who want a piece of the deep on their shelf.

The project currently sits at 1,175 supporters on LEGO® Ideas, so there's plenty of room to help it reach the 10,000 needed for review. Which alien creature would you want to build first? Head over and back Subnautica: The First Dive to help this underwater world surface as a real set.
