Picture a mansion so packed with whirring gears, a telescope, and a giant external clock that its owner literally cannot hear you over the racket. That is the charm of The Inventor's Mansion, a 4,992-piece steampunk playset by designer Takesz that just reached the full 10,000 supporters on LEGO® Ideas and marched straight into the review phase.

This rusty-golden mansion measures roughly 50 cm wide, 30 cm long, and 30 cm tall, and it comes loaded with nine minifigures and three grand moving functions. A retractable telescope folds neatly into second-floor storage, then swings out to the balcony with loads of motion when you pull it free. The Inventor's Wheel, operated from the roof, sets a whole chain of gears pivoting across one wall (watch those cogs dance!). And a towering external clock over the pool spins decorative and functional gears right into the floor and behind the columns.

Fancy a quieter corner? The interior hides a reading nook with a steampunk bookshelf, a diner crowned by a mighty chandelier, an architect's studio on the top floor, and clock machinery tucked just under the roof. Takesz rounds it all off with a futuristic steampunk car (because every ground-based inventor needs one), a bench with a lamppost, an observation tower, two balconies with stairs, and a tiny garden for that home-sweet-home feeling.

Takesz is a mechanical engineer turned computer scientist who has loved steampunk and the age of industrialization since the early 2000s. This is the second LEGO® Ideas homage to that passion, following The Butterfly, and it is the largest, most complex build Takesz has ever attempted, built entirely from the public LDraw parts library with zero custom pieces or stickers.

With 10,000 supporters secured and 484 comments cheering it on, The Inventor's Mansion now waits on the LEGO® review team. Will this steamy wonderland get the green light? Keep an eye on it, fellow builders, because machines this delightful deserve to whir on your shelf.
