Full steam ahead! The LNER Class A1 'Flying Scotsman', arguably the most famous steam locomotive ever to clatter down a track, has just rolled into the review stage on LEGO® Ideas with a glorious 10,000 supporters behind it. Designer InterBrick has recreated the record-breaking Pacific in L-gauge scale, and the result is 2,327 pieces of pure locomotive loveliness. Who else wants this chugging across their desk?

The real Flying Scotsman earned its legend the hard way. Born from Gresley's A1 design back in 1923, it became the first locomotive to officially break 100 mph in 1934, and it ran the 392-mile London to Edinburgh route without a single stop. That is a lot of history to pack into bricks, and this build rises to the challenge.
Here is where builders will really tip their conductor's caps. The Flying Scotsman set includes the locomotive itself in its classic A1 form, a corridor tender, and a section of track to show it off. InterBrick went hunting for Nice Part Usage and clever building techniques throughout, which means the assembly should be as satisfying as the finished model (and if you love figuring out how a shape gets built, you are in for a treat).

The project has a charming origin story too. InterBrick originally designed this beauty for the Brick Train Awards 2022, then thought, why not submit it to Ideas and see if people liked it? People liked it. With a thriving LEGO® train community always hungry for accurate locomotives, this one found its tracks fast.
Now the full 10,000 supporters have spoken, and the model sits firmly in review, waiting for the LEGO® design team to decide its fate. Could this iconic engine be the next display piece calling your name from the shelf? Keep your signals green and watch this one closely.
