That is what KejserSuperladetHval has brought to LEGO® Ideas with Amalienborg Palace, a model of Copenhagen's real home of the Danish Royal Family. The project captures all four rococo palaces and the octagonal courtyard between them, and it currently sits at 2,260 supporters with 90 comments cheering it on.

Here is the part that will make any builder sit up straight: the four palaces are mounted at a 45-degree angle around the central square. Getting bricks to behave off the grid is one of the trickiest tricks in the box, and pulling it off across an entire symmetrical layout takes real patience (and, we suspect, a very well-organised parts drawer). The Amalienborg Palace build began life as a school project, where the brief was to recreate a famous architectural landmark as a scale model. The four palaces once housed noble families in the 1750s before becoming a royal home after Christiansborg burned down in 1794, and the family still lives there today.
