Ever wished your LEGO® bricks could drop a beat? Designer Icerlot has answered that question with Working Turntable With Real Music, a 1,318-piece machine that spins three brick-built vinyls and plays a different song for each one. This is one of the first LEGO® Ideas projects to really put the new Smart Brick system through its paces, and the result hums with clever engineering.

Here is how the magic works. Each of the three vinyls carries its own Smart TAG. Drop a record onto the platter, and it touches the Smart Brick tucked inside the turntable, which reads the tag and cues up that vinyl's assigned track. Flick the ON/OFF button wired to the battery box, the motor kicks in, and your record starts turning for real. No air-guitar required.

That combination of touch recognition and motorised motion is what makes this build sing (sorry). Most motorised LEGO® models just spin when you flip a switch, but here the model actually knows which record you placed on it. The three songs would be chosen by the LEGO® Ideas team if the project reaches production, so imagine the tracklist possibilities.

Icerlot built this because they felt the Smart Brick system's potential was going overlooked, and being deeply connected to music, a turntable was the obvious way to show it off. It is a great pitch: take a piece of technology hardly anyone has explored yet and make it genuinely fun to play with. The project has already gathered 2,061 supporters and sparked 76 comments since it landed on July 1, 2026.
