Set your solar sails, fellow builders, because the RLS Legacy has just docked at a very important milestone. Treasure Planet - The RLS Legacy reached the full 10,000 supporters on LEGO® Ideas and now heads into official review. Designed by DRChurch, this brick-built solar galleon recreates the flying ship from Disney's 2002 film Treasure Planet in loving detail. Have you ever wanted to sail a wooden sailing ship through outer space? Now you might get the chance.Curvy sailing ships and rectangular LEGO® bricks are not natural friends, which is exactly what makes this project such a joy to study. DRChurch spent nine months on the design, splitting the work between digital modelling and hands-on building to coax those sleek, flowing hull lines out of stubbornly square pieces.

The result captures the film's famous 70/30 look, seventy percent classic wooden galleon and thirty percent science fiction, right down to the shape of the Legacy herself.

The crew has come aboard too. A recent update added preliminary minifigure designs for Jim Hawkins, Long John Silver, Dr. Delbert Doppler, and Captain Amelia Smollett, so the whole adventuring party can take to deep space in search of fame and glory. If you have ever tried to build a smooth curve out of bricks, you already know how much patience and problem-solving these gently arching timbers demanded.

The story behind Treasure Planet comes from Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, reimagined among the stars, and DRChurch calls the Legacy an absolute dream project and one of his favourite vessels in all of film. With 270 comments and a full house of supporters, the ship now waits for the LEGO® review team to weigh anchor.

As Long John Silver himself might put it, this set's got the makings of greatness in it. Will the RLS Legacy earn her place as the flagship of your shelf?
