LEGO® Ghost Train Funfair: The Ride You’re Afraid to Take Twice

LEGO® Ghost Train Funfair: The Ride You’re Afraid to Take Twice

A purple truck rumbles down a street, carnival lights flicker, and somewhere in the distance… laughter echoes where it shouldn’t. That’s the magic of Vintage Ghost Train – Funfair, the latest LEGO® Ideas project by fan designer Briquette. With around 1,520 parts, this creepy-cool build brings the thrill of an old traveling fair straight to your shelf. The project is gathering steam on LEGO Ideas, chasing the haunted number, 10.000 supporters, to become an official LEGO set.

Fan builder Briquette brings back the eerie magic of carnival ghost trains with a LEGO® Ideas project now chasing 10,000 votes.

All Aboard the Haunted Ride

The show begins with a mysterious 1980s-style truck painted in deep purple tones. It rolls into town like something out of a vintage horror movie. The truck unfolds into a full attraction, complete with a gothic manor façade and a track for your mini wagons. Don’t be fooled by the cheerful carnival lights. Inside lurk gargoyles, vampires, and things that whisper in the dark.

Buy your ticket from Chantal, if you dare, and hop into a wagon. The journey winds through eerie corridors, an abandoned drawing room, and a ghostly moat beneath the manor. Somewhere in the shadows, a watchful statue decides who passes. And beware of the Count, his hospitality is as sharp as his teeth.

A Build That’s Spookily Clever

Underneath the frightful fun is an impressively engineered build. Briquette designed a compact mechanism that fits the entire ghost train system neatly inside the truck’s trailer. It’s a clever puzzle of plates, arches, and rails, showing how imagination can turn limited space into a full story scene. Every inch feels alive with small surprises: a flicker of firelight, a hidden coffin, a portrait with eyes that might follow you.

Inspired by Cinematic Frights

Briquette drew inspiration from Stranger Things, Tim Burton’s gothic worlds, and even the whimsical ghost train featured in Amélie. The nostalgic tone of Licorice Pizza helped shape its 70s/80s carnival charm. It’s a love letter to that mix of fear and excitement that every child felt before stepping into a dark ride for the first time.

This project is a time machine to that moment when you clutched a sibling’s hand, laughed nervously, and screamed at papier-mâché monsters that somehow felt real.
