Same time, same channel: two lab mice with world-domination dreams have hopped onto LEGO® Ideas. Designer Packatrix has recreated Pinky and the Brain at large character scale, and the pitch already has 3,018 supporters cheering the caged geniuses on. Not bad for a duo who spend every night plotting to take over the world (and failing spectacularly, which is rather the point).

The spin-off first aired in September 1995, so these two are officially over 30 years old, and they have never looked blockier. Capturing their wildly different faces was clearly the fun part of this build. Brain wears his brooding, Orson Welles-inspired scowl, while Pinky beams with wide-eyed, gloriously derpy innocence. Can a mouse look this smug in plastic bricks? Apparently yes.

The standout trick here is the tubing used to shape Brain's furrowed brow, a lovely bit of lateral thinking that turns a flexible element into pure attitude. Packatrix also leans on the newer sloped wedges and curves that recent Pokemon sets introduced, and every fresh part opens up more sculpting options for a project like this. If you have ever wanted to build a rounded cartoon head, this is a masterclass in coaxing curves out of a square-ish system.

There is a genuinely charming backstory too. Packatrix later worked alongside Pinky's voice actor Rob Paulsen and fellow performer Tress MacNeille, and reports they were even more fun than you would hope. The project first appeared in the LEGO® Ideas 90s challenge before earning its own standard submission, giving these mice a second shot at the big time.
