The Dark Knight’s history is long, tangled and full of iconic moments. Soon you’ll be able to experience it all in brick form. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live, launches in 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC. Built for fans, this game feels like the biggest Gotham adventure yet.
From Training to Showdowns
Traveller’s Tales is not sticking to one storyline. You’ll play as Bruce Wayne learning under the League of Shadows, then chase through the decades of Batman’s life. Expect encounters with The Joker, Poison Ivy, Penguin, Ra’s al Ghul and Bane, who comes voiced by Matt Berry. That casting choice already has fans buzzing.
The scope reaches beyond comics. You’ll notice Nolan’s trilogy, the 90s animated series, and even 2022’s The Batman. Every corner of Gotham seems up for grabs.

Gotham Is Yours to Explore
Legacy goes open-world, taking a page from the Arkham series. You’ll roam a LEGO Gotham City, glide off rooftops, race Batmobiles and Batcycles and stumble into side activities when you should be saving the day. A customisable Batcave lets you display collectibles, vehicles and Batsuits collected from across Batman history.
Stealth takedowns and combo-driven combat clearly borrow from Rocksteady’s Arkham mechanics, but wrapped in the lighter TT Games style. It’s both familiar and new, which is a balance that works surprisingly well.

Team Up or Take on the Challenge Alone
As expected, two-player local co-op returns. Side characters bring their own gadgets into the action. For those wanting more grit, two new difficulty levels appear: Caped Crusader and Dark Knight. These sound tailored for players who want to test their Arkham-honed reflexes in LEGO form.
For longtime fans, this is where the chiasmus hits: you play Batman’s history, and Batman’s history plays you.

What Comes Next for LEGO Games
The timing matters. TT Games no longer holds exclusive rights, so its releases sit alongside titles like LEGO Horizon Adventures, LEGO Party! and LEGO Voyagers. Legacy of the Dark Knight may prove if their formula still defines what people think of as the LEGO game style.
Until then, if you need something physical, the 2,953-piece LEGO 76330 Arkham Asylum launches on 9 September 2025. It’s a fitting warm-up to the virtual Gotham coming next year.
So, are you ready to glide through LEGO Gotham again? Which Batman era do you want to see recreated in bricks? Share your picks below, because built for fans is not just a phrase, it’s how Gotham comes alive.
