LEGO® Black Pearl Returns With a New Name in 2025

A name change cannot sink a legend. LEGO® has officially revealed 10365 Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Ship, which longtime fans know as the Black Pearl. The set launches on 12 September 2025 for LEGO Insiders, followed by a general release from LEGO.com and LEGO Stores. At 2,862 pieces, this Icons-scale model revives one of the most requested ships in LEGO history, and yes, it comes loaded with details built for fans.

Bigger, bolder, blacker

Compared to the 2011 release, this new version is enormous. Measuring 64 cm tall and 64 cm long, it towers over most LEGO® pirate ships. The black sails, the curved hull, the dark silhouette—it’s a ship that looks ready to haunt the seven seas from a display shelf.

Play features are baked into the design. Turning dials deploy cannons on either side. Spinning the wheel steers the rudder. The hull splits at the waterline so you can show it sailing or display it docked on stands. It feels like a ship designed for play and display at the same time, which not every set manages to achieve.

The crew of legends

This ship carries eight minifigures. Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Gibbs, Cotton, Marty, Elizabeth Swann, Hector Barbossa, and, for the first time, Anamaria. Many fans have been asking for Anamaria since her role in The Curse of the Black Pearl, so her inclusion feels overdue. Elizabeth also shines in her golden gown, a detail that adds a fresh layer to the cast. Some might miss Pintel and Ragetti, but the lineup still feels strong.

Why the name change

Curiously, LEGO and Disney avoided calling it the Black Pearl. Officially, the box reads “Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Ship.” Whether that choice was marketing-driven or licensing-related, fans will almost certainly continue calling it what it is: the Black Pearl. After all, a ship by any other name sails just as iconic.

Treasure worth the price

The cost is high at €349.99 (US$379.99, AU$549.99, £299.99, CA$449.99, SGD$499.99, SEK 4,280, DKK 2,605, PLN 1,615, R$2,155). Yet when placed next to the 2011 model, the scale and improvements are clear. The gift-with-purchase Jack Sparrow’s Compass sweetens the launch deal, making early adoption tempting.

For LEGO® Pirates fans, this release could signal the return of large-scale pirate ships, alongside the Going Merry from One Piece. The Black Pearl’s rebirth is proof that nostalgia sells, but only when done with ambition. To borrow Barbossa’s words, the Pearl is not just a ship, it’s freedom, brick by brick.

So, what do you think, does this set become the crown jewel of your pirate fleet, or do you still prefer the 2011 version?
