Ever dreamed of packing up your minifigures and heading to the coast for a sunny weekend? The Seaside Town project on LEGO® Ideas does exactly that. Built by a designer who goes by Artbrix, this 2,718-piece coastal escape gathers five colourful little shops around a wooden port, and it captures the seaside holiday feeling beautifully.
Walk down the row and you will find a fish shop, a surfboard shop, an ice cream parlour, a bakery, and a museum. Every shop hides bedrooms for the owners upstairs plus storage rooms behind the scenes, so these buildings feel genuinely lived in. That is a lovely touch, and it is the kind of thing that makes you want to invent a whole story for each shopkeeper (who runs the bakery, and do they eat all the pastries?).
The building tricks here really shine. Artbrix mixed up the roof shapes and colours across the town to keep your eye moving, and dotted foliage and rock formations around to add pops of green and grey. Over on the right, a wooden port gives the two included sailing ships somewhere to dock. The beach spreads out wide enough to display all your minifigures at play, whether they are swimming, building a sandcastle, or lazing under a parasol on a deck chair.
The inspiration comes from the colourful coastal towns of Europe, from the UK to France to Italy, and you can feel that sunny Mediterranean charm in every cheerful facade. So far the Seaside Town has gathered 3,298 supporters on its way toward the 10,000 needed to reach the review stage.
